Humility. That is a key concept in this middle chapter of Jesus' Sermon on the Mount. He talks about:
- giving without anyone else knowing
- praying without anyone else hearing
- changing without anyone else knowing
In a world consumed with social media, these can very difficult to do.
Jesus wants our focus to be on God - the audience of One. He sees what we do in secret and He will reward us far better than any earthy reward or applause.

Jesus also tells us not to worry. In a world consumed with stuff, appearance, and status, this is another difficult thing to do. Yet, He tells us to look at the flowers, who are a perfect design. We are more precious to God than even the best-dressed flowers of the field.
"Don't be so preoccupied with getting, so you can respond to God's giving."
That is an excellent mantra for this Christmas season.
